Our Online Privacy Policy
Go Charity will always value your trust. We want you to know how we collect, use and protect information about our online guests. This privacy policy will tell you:
What Information We Collect
When you visit and navigate our Web site, we will not collect personal information about you unless you provide us that information voluntarily. By "personal information," we mean data that is unique to an individual, such as a name, address, e-mail address, telephone number or credit card related information.
When you register for any service or feature on our site, we require the following personal information: e-mail address and first and last name. We may also ask you to select a personal user name and password. In addition, we request that you provide additional information, such as gender, telephone number, street address, city, state, zip code and country. If you register for any service under which Go Charity or the actual “Charity” we are providing a service for will process payments made by you, then we may require certain financial information (such as the name on the credit card, credit card number and expiration date).
How We Use Information
Because we consider any personal information you give us as confidential, except in the limited circumstances described below, as general rule Go Charity uses information collected from you in aggregate form only. We combine the information with data collected from other individuals to produce anonymous, aggregated statistical information. We collect and use demographic information in order to improve the products and services we offer, to conduct market research, to generate profiles and reports, and to improve the overall experience of our site. We also may share this anonymous, aggregated information -- which does not identify individuals -- with partners, advertisers or other third parties.
Except as described below, we will not disclose to third parties any identifying personal information gathered from you unless (1) we tell you how your information will be used and you give Go Charity specific permission to share this information or (2) Go Charity is required to disclose such information by any applicable law or legal process (like a subpoena or court order).
The exception to this general rule concerns our role as a facilitator of online fundraising events. In order to fulfill this role effectively, we must be able to provide personal information of users to the “organization” or “Charity” holding the event. Go Charity discloses the following information: (1) name, email and mailing address (and/or other contact information) of all donors, (2) name and email of all "interested parties" - e.g., individuals who access the Go Charity site via “email to a friend”, as well as individuals who place watches on items, and (3) name, email, mailing address (and/or other contact information) and credit card number or all high bidders
Review and Correction of Your Information
If for any reason you are concerned that the personal information about you that is maintained by Go Charity is incorrect and needs to be changed or deleted, please contact us by e-mail and we will be happy to update or remove your personal information accordingly. We may continue to retain your information in our files due to technical and legal requirements, constraints related to the security, integrity and operation of the Websites or to resolve disputes.
Opt-out
If you would prefer not to receive direct communications with regard to our products and/or services anymore, you may opt-out by following the directions on the bottom of our e-mails to you.
Security-Secure Sockets Layering (SSL)
Our website uses Secure Sockets Layering (SSL) to encrypt your personal credit information, including your credit card number, before it travels over the Internet. SSL technology is the industry standard for secure online transactions. Because we use SSL, placing an order online at our website is just as safe as giving your credit card number over the phone.
IP Addresses
An Internet Protocol (IP) address is a number that is automatically assigned to your computer by your Internet service provider whenever you access the Internet. This number may be the same each time you access the Internet or it may change. Like other Internet sites, Go Charity uses IP addresses to collect aggregate information about numbers of visitors and site usage. The address is logged on our server when your computer requests information from Go Charity. However, to allow users to access our site anonymously, your IP address is not linked with personal information about you. However, we reserve the right, in rare instances, to use IP addresses to identify individuals who threaten our site, service or users.
Surveys and Polls
If you respond to any surveys or polls on our site, we may ask you for demographic information such as your gender or age. This information is collected only as anonymous, aggregated information and is used for statistical purposes. Otherwise, we do not collect or store your personal responses.
Under the Age of 18
We recognize the particular importance of protecting privacy where children are involved. We are committed to protecting children's privacy on the Internet and we comply fully with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of 13. If a child has provided our website with personally identifiable information, we ask that a parent or guardian call 1-800-440-0680 or by clicking here and we will delete the information about the child from our files.
